With this new software, plant managers and process owners are provided with a cost-efficient, time-saving and flexible solution for both storage and viewing of important data.
Automatic storage of information from multiple sources
Beijer Electronics Data Collector, together with an operator terminal from Beijer Electronics, provides several benefits for applications that require continuous collection and storage of process data. "The most obvious advantage is the automated handling," says Anders Nilsson, marketing manager at Beijer Electronics. "In an industrial network, the user can easily define what parameters to save from the different machines and processes. After that, everything is handled automatically. Compared to manual collection of data, an in-house software solution, or the use of a SCADA system, this new software is much more cost efficient," he continues.
Stores data at any time from anywhere
With Beijer Electronics Data Collector, the sample intervals can be set so they correspond to specific process needs or quality guidelines. The software also supports Ethernet and modem communication, which makes it possible to automatically collect data from geographically separated facilities. "For example, a process owner can choose to download data once every night so that the information is stored and ready in the morning. And it doesn't matter if the data is transferred via a local industrial network, Internet or a modem," explains Anders Nilsson.
Already appreciated by customers
"We save approximately 12 hours per week by using the new software," says Wolfgang Albiez, technical manager, at Z-Design in Germany . Z-Design works within water and ground decontamination and their equipment in used in many different countries. Since the new software was installed, their machines send daily reports from the field over a GSM modem. "Before the data was manually put into a database," continues Mr. Albiez.
"Now we automatically collect and store more than 450 process and alarm values at each sample interval. This enables us to quickly analyze the information and adapt the machine parameters on a daily basis. This in turn shortens the process time and minimizes the breakdown time."
Easy data overview
Trends, data, alarms, etc. that have been stored in a database, can easily be viewed and checked in a Viewer, which is a part of the software. The data is presented in graphs and tables, which makes it easy to get an overview of the information. "The graphical presentation of data makes it easy to identify deviations from the normal. This can help to quickly detect production problems or to ensure that all values are within acceptable limits," says marketing manager Nilsson.
System requirements
Beijer Electronics Data Collector requires Windows XP/NT/2000. The data can be stored in a standard database, e.g. SQL, Access or MSDE.
