Single and dual axis inclinometers are certified for use in Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D hazardous locations.

October 3, 2014 - To measure angular tilt in hazardous environments, TURCK single and dual axis inclinometers are certifed for use in Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D hazardous classified locations. Models are also available with ATEX approval to deliver feedback within hazardous EX Zones 2 and 22. Equipped with MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) technology, the inclinometer solves unique feedback requirements by accurately measuring angular tilt in reference to gravity. To meet Class I, Division 2 requirements, TURCK added a physical protection guard that protects the sensor and is used in conjunction with the inclinometer. This also satisfies the certification’s tool removable cover requirement.

The single and dual axis inclinometers feature dual programmable-analog outputs, and TURCK offers a teach adapter to simplify the programming of the inclinometer. With a measurement range up to 360 degrees, the product provides flexible operation for a wide range of applications where explosive gases, vapors and/or liquids may be present, including petroleum refineries, dry cleaning plants, spray finishing areas, aircraft hangars and fueling areas, and utility gas plants. TURCK inclinometers offer rugged, IP68-rated housing and reliable operation in temperatures ranging from -40 degress Celsius to +70 degress Celsius.

“We've taken the inclinometer’s capabilities one step further with Class I, Division 2 approval,” said Marty Cwach, product manager at TURCK. “Now, in addition to quality and precise measurement, our customers can improve safety and meet extensive industry requirements with its use in hazardous environments.”
