September 18, 2015 - Ultra Electronics 3eTI updates SCADAWatch security appliance to provide cyber-attack detection to Serial-based protocols such as CANopen, Profibus, and DeviceNet.
Serial-based protocols such as CANopen, Profibus, and DeviceNet are used for critical platforms from vehicle control to power generation and have been the subject of recent high-profile attacks. Serial-based automation and controls systems currently are unmonitored, and assumed uncompromised, making them ideal targets for a cyber-attack. SCADAWatch detects an unauthorized or malicious action, generating an alert without degrading critical system operations.
Using SCADAWatch, a serially controlled system will be able to distinguish between a sophisticated cyber-attack and equipment failure. This capability provides early warning to an operator, allowing an immediate and accurate response to unauthorized activity that can critically impact mission performance.
