US Digital introduces tiny 10-bit magnetic shaft encoder
The MA2 miniature absolute magnetic shaft encoder provides 1024 unique positions per 360° of shaft rotation. The miniature encoder is less than 5/8 in. in diameter and just over one inch in length, including the shaft and bushing. Its magnetic single chip sensing technology makes it ideal for applications in harsh environments.

The MA2 is available in two output versions: analog and pulse width modulation (PWM). The analog version outputs a voltage that is proportional to the absolute shaft position. The PWM output version outputs a 1024 Hz signal whose duty cycle is proportional to the absolute shaft position. The MA2 is a miniature encoder less than 5/8" in diameter and just over one inch in length, including the shaft and bushing.Absolute encoders have traditionally been larger, more expensive, and more complex than incremental encoders.

In contrast, the small size, low cost, and simplicity of the MA2 now provides absolute position feedback for a new spectrum of applications that would otherwise be impractical.

US Digital’s Place in the Motion Control Industry

US Digital is a steadily growing high tech firm located in Vancouver, Washington, USA with a mission to design, manufacture, and quickly deliver the most practical motion control components world-wide. US Digital has been designing, building, and delivering same day solutions since 1980.US Digital's precision position sensors and inclinometers are used in a wide variety of places: robotics, automobiles, animatronics, front panel rotary controls, telescope positioning, computer controlled stage lighting, check readers, and vending machines, to name a few. Motion Control components translate the mechanical movement of a device to electronic information:

  • The rotation of a radio dial converted to change the volume or station
  • The turning of the tires translated to the speedometer
  • The exact position of a telescope generated from computer coordinates
  • The movement of a robot with precision from one location to the next
  • The verification of location of an amusement park ride
  • The movement of the roller ball in a mouse translated to cursor movementUS Digital’s minimal outsourcing strategy is unique to most US companies, and it’s paying off.

They continue to have substantial growth, driven by an ecommerce strategy and word-of-mouth.

Committed to engineering, US Digital is constantly releasing innovative products to the marketplace.

US Digital views problems as opportunities for invention and is continually seeking the best and brightest innovators to be part of our outstanding team.

US Digital continues to grow and strives to engineer and manufacture practical solutions in Vancouver for markets around the world.
