The directive now provides a recognised, international common basis if there is need for clarification among project partners. Furthermore, the directive will help mitigate language barriers: Each paragraph is printed in both languages side by side. The tables have the same structures in both languages.

May 22, 2017 - The VDI/VDE/VDMA 2632 part 2 directive was introduced by VDMA at the G3 Initiative for standardisation. The standard provides a guideline for preparing technical and functional specifications in machine vision. After careful examination, the G3 Initiative has confirmed its benefit for project management when integrating machine vision systems into measuring and automation solutions. The directive will be recommended for use to members of the Association as a G3 standard, as, for example, EMVA 1288, GenICam, Camera Link and GigE Vision.

In line with its international recognition, the directive will be available from April 2017 onwards in an English/Chinese version. In its English/Chinese version, the directive will provide assistance in completion of projects undertaken with international partners. The directive now provides a recognised, international common basis if there is need for clarification among project partners. Furthermore, the directive will help mitigate language barriers: Each paragraph is printed in both languages side by side. The tables have the same structures in both languages.

The G3 Initiative is an international consortium of major associations active in the field of machine vision. G3 members are the North-American association AIA-Advancing Vision+Imaging, the China Machine Vision Union (CMVU), the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA), the Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA) as well as the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).

The directive VDI/VDE/VDMA 2632 part 2 “Machine vision - Guideline for the preparation of a requirement specification and a system specification” has been edited by VDI/VDE-Gesellschaft Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik (GMA – association for measuring and automation technology). The directive is available since April 2017 in addition to the still applicable edition of October 2015, in an English (USA)/Chinese version.
