VC Smart Inspect executes all image processing routines without an external PC.

January 24, 2012 - Vision Components releases VC Smart Inspect vision sensor, an ultracompact complete machine vision solution for a wide range of industrial applications. Featuring a 700 MHz processor with a computing power of 5,600 MIPS, the high-performance sensor is extremely fast. 32 MB Flash and 128 MB DDRAM are available for program and data storage. The housing, which measures only 140 x 70 x 35 mm, contains an intelligent camera and a high-output High Power LED illumination. The illumination, which is posi-tioned at an angle, ensures that even difficult surfaces can be examined relia-bly.

VC Smart Inspect executes all image processing routines without an external PC, outperforming conventional vision sensors. The units thereby enable automation in applications where conventional, PC-based image processing systems are too costly or too complicated to implement. They feature an Ethernet interface that enables live video output on a PC and can be optionally equipped with an RS232 interface. Images are recorded by means of a global shutter CMOS sensor whose performance equals that of a CCD sensor, providing clear, high-resolution pictures even in extremely fast applications.
