Yokogawa Releases Asset Management Software

By: Yokogawa Corporation of America
14 February, 2006
PRM asset management software integrates and manages maintenance information from field instruments, monitors online conditions and records historical data. PRM enables users to remotely access devices that feature field communication capability -- such as FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus- and HART-enabled devices -- as well as perform centralized management of the parameters of those devices.

Newnan, Georgia - Yokogawa announces that it has released and is now delivering a new upgrade of its Plant Resource Manager ™ (PRM) 2.20. PRM is Yokogawa’s value-added asset management software that integrates and manages maintenance information from field instruments, monitors online conditions and records historical data. PRM enables users to remotely access devices that feature field communication capability -- such as FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus- and HART-enabled devices -- as well as perform centralized management of the parameters of those devices. These functions provide efficient management and maintenance of field devices and computerization of maintenance data that streamlines maintenance operations and achieves cost savings.

Information such as the names of flow meters, valves and other field instruments, parameter settings, inspection records, and instruction manuals are stored in a database, which the operator can easily access as necessary. The recently released Version 2.20 includes several additional features: 1.

Maintenance Alarm/Process Alert Functions

Information on field devices is updated in real time and provides dynamic alerts and information to maintenance personnel as alarms and to operators as alerts to better facilitate maintenance of the device. Tighter integration with Yokogawa’s integrated production control system, the CENTUM CS 3000 R3, provides direct access of the Device viewer of PRM on an operator station for quick diagnosis and action. 2.

Custom User Views

In addition to organizing the devices according to either a Plant View (ISA equipment hierarchy), Network View (view by Foundation Fieldbus, HART or other field network type), or Class View (view by device type classification like Yokogawa pressure transmitters or other suppliers valves), PRM allows the user to organize the device list according to roles, schedules or other criteria. 3.

Device Security

Security access can be set for a hierarchical set of devices that prevents individuals who are not responsible for the device from working on it by mistake. 4.

Device Viewer

A new trend system addition allows device parameters to be displayed in real time. Similar to an operator’s tuning panel trend system, trends built-in to PRM allows viewing device parameter data graphically by maintenance personnel without needing access to the control system. 5.

Device Access function

Improved graphical user interface for DD (device description) menu. In addition, PRM has become more highly scalable allowing as few as 25 devices for a very attractive entry-level price to as many as 20,000 devices that Yokogawa has seen in its very large Fieldbus installations. PRM is one of the key deliverables of Yokogawa’s VigilantPlant™ concept promising asset excellence to visionary plants and creating an environment where plant personnel can “See Clearly, Know in Advance and Act with Agility.”
