The EtherNet/IP communication interface for Yokogawa's data acquisition and industrial recorder products has passed the ODVA conformance test.

August 21, 2008 - The EtherNet/IP communication interface for Yokogawa Electric Corporation's data acquisition and industrial recorder products has passed the ODVA conformance test -- a first in this field. Now available on the MW100 data acquisition/data logging system, and soon to be released on the DXAdvanced data acquisition station, EtherNet/IP is the open, industrial network technology built on the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard, widely used on programmable logic controllers (PLC) and numerous other control systems and devices. Data acquisition, control, and automation systems now share information using the same Ethernet network technology and infrastructure already employed on the business and administration side of the plant.

With EtherNet/IP, customers can readily install the MW100 on a plant network and enable communications with popular PLC systems using familiar software configuration tools already in use. The web-enabled MW100 enhances the functionality of PLC systems by adding high quality external I/O, secure local data storage and real-time web browser monitoring of the available PLC data. Users can now choose the best multi-vendor solutions for plant control, monitoring and recording needs with assured interoperability for all devices. Yokogawa data acquisition and recording products are used in process and test applications in many industries including power generation, petrochemical, metals, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, biotech, food and beverage, and more.

ODVA is an association of international control and automation suppliers that supports network technologies built on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIPTM). ODVA manages the development of open network technologies and helps vendors achieve interoperability through conformance testing.
