Zaber introduces high and low vacuum linear actuators and stages
The line of vacuum compatible devices offer built-in controllers, daisy-chaining capability within a vacuum chamber, and high and low vacuum options.

April 7, 2014 - Zaber’s line of vacuum compatible devices includes high and low vacuum linear actuators and linear stages, and low vacuum mirror mounts and translation stages. Vacuum actuators, stages, and mounts have built-in controllers, which reduces cable clutter, and allows them to be daisy-chained within a vacuum chamber. Daisy-chaining also eliminates the need for extra feedthroughs; several Zaber devices can run on only one feedthrough wire.

High and low vacuum devices use specially designed vacuum stepper motors. High vacuum motors are rated for vacuum levels of 10 -6 Torr. Low vacuum motors are rated for vacuum levels of 10 -3 Torr. The materials used in Zaber’s vacuum devices are selected to be low outgassing and non-condensing for use in sensitive applications. Vented stainless steel screws are used on all high vacuum devices, and non-vented stainless steel screws are used on all low vacuum devices.

Vacuum compatible greases are also used in both high and low vacuum devices.

Zaber’s vacuum devices are designed to be easy to set up and use in a vacuum chamber. For example, the T-NA-SV2 Series high vacuum micro linear actuators with built-in controllers are compact, precise, and robust, offering 25 and 50 mm travel options, up to 8 mm/s speed, and up to 46 N thrust. Low vacuum versions offer the same specifications, but with vacuum compatibility to 10 -3 Torr.
