MGE announces Power Management Software for UPSes

COSTA MESA, CALIF. -- May 1, 2006 -- MGE UPS SYSTEMS, (www.mgeups.com/us) the technology leader in providing unsurpassed power protection solutions for critical networking and data center applications, has introduced its new Enterprise Power Manager v2; a robust software program designed to give network and facility managers an intuitive and easy way of managing all of their networked Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) systems across the enterprise.MGE's Enterprise Power Manager v2, can substantially lower costs for supervising single- and three-phase networked UPS systems compared to using major network management system platforms. Enterprise Power Manager can carry out a scan for all the UPS systems from MGE, using both XML and SNMP protocols. The open architecture of EPM enables the discovery of UPSs from any other vendor supporting the standard UPS management information base (MIB). It also discovers and manages other critical power components, such as Power over Ethernet (PoE) midspans, Intelligent Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Source Transfer Switches (STS) and rack monitoring systems to give administrators comprehensive control of their protected infrastructure. The software presents a consolidated view of main operating parameters of all the UPS systems, which can be configured easily according to the type of UPS, location, operating status and other user-defined parameters. Through its color-coded displays, administrators can activate advanced functions such as automatic shutdown of unattended servers, automatic reboot, and system operation scheduling. This new release of Enterprise Power Manager addresses the special needs of complex three-phase power systems, with the ability to draw any type of power architecture, with multiple levels of redundancy, and view the actual power flows on the GUI.Accessible from the Internet and any workstation using a standard Web browser, users can click on a UPS in the presented diagram to obtain detailed information about the operating and configuration parameters in a dedicated window. Enterprise Power Manager uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption along with several levels of passwords for complete security. In the event of a power emergency, alarms are centralized and transmitted by e-mail or through Short Message Service (SMS). The systems' real-time logging of events and operations helps users to conduct preventive maintenance of their various UPSs. Enterprise Power Manager v2 for monitoring up to five UPSs is available free with each networked UPS on MGE's Solution-Pac 2 CD-ROM or can be downloaded from MGE's website at: http://www.mgeups.com/download/soft/default_mgt.htm. This version can also be used to evaluate the software for use on a more extensive network before purchasing. For managing up to 50 power devices, Enterprise Power Manager v2 is available for $400 list and is included on MGE's Management-Pac 2 CD or can be downloaded through MGE's web site at: http://www.mgeups.com/products/pdt230/software/mgtpac/mgtpac.htm. For overseeing an unlimited number of power devices, the Gold Version of Enterprise Power Manager is also available for $2,995; a very low cost compared with similar, yet more limited solutions on the market.About MGE: MGE UPS SYSTEMS is a world leader in providing high quality power solutions that increase power availability and system uptime to PCs and enterprise-wide networks, mission-critical telecommunication systems, medical instrumentation and industrial/manufacturing processes.
