GENE-BSW5 board and FWS-2260 network appliance are based on Intel Pentium and Celeron Processors N3000 (codename Braswell) hardware.

July 27, 2015 - AAEON announces GENE-BSW5 subcompact board and FWS-2260 network appliance based on Intel Pentium and Celeron Processors N3000 (codename Braswell) hardware.

Manufactured with the 14nm process, power consumption of both products has been further reduced to 6W, as compared to 10W of their predecessors which utilizes the previous generation SoCs. Support for greater memory speeds and I/Os are also incorporated in the chips to introduce some of today’s most wanted technological features to the mainstream market.

The GENE-BSW5 3.5’’subcompact board is capable of handling 3 independent displays from the board’s HDMI, VGA, and LVDS options with the chip’s graphical enhancements. The chip’s support for more I/O helps the board to sport 6 COMs, 4 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 ports.

Also benefitting from the improved I/O support is the FWS-2260. Not only can more SATA and USB ports be incorporated, but the chip’s improved memory support also allows faster RAM to be used. The SoCs also come with enhanced security features that make network appliances a much more safe and secure equipment in an IoT environment.
