KL6811 distributed I/O for industrial lighting control approved for use in the U.S.

MINNEAPOLIS, January 27, 2005 – Beckhoff Automation has received UL certification for its DALI network KL6811 distributed I/O terminals, which are now approved for use in U.S. applications. DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a protocol designed to automate building lighting. The AG-DALI group was established by several manufacturers and educational institutions to promote the technology and implement its use in building automation.

“Receiving UL certification for DALI I/O is Beckhoff’s next big step into the U.S. building automation markets,” said Skip Hansen, I/O Product Manager, Beckhoff Automation. “While Beckhoff distributed I/O has its strong, traditional base in OEM machinery, DALI network I/O provides us with a great avenue for growth in an exciting and rapidly evolving industry.”The KL6811 enables the connection of up to 64 DALI slaves.

During the start-up phase, the KL6811 searches the slaves and supports the user during the commissioning of the system. Beckhoff KS2000 I/O software enables simple configuration using a PC. The integrated power supply unit generates an electrically isolated 24 V DC output voltage. No additional components are required for the operation of DALI slaves. The KL6811 is “fieldbus-independent,” meaning it can connect with most major automation and control networks.
