Calex announces "-T" addition to 1000W FXW series of DC/DC converters
The FXW series of DC/DC converter is designed for military/aerospace and hi-rel applications requiring extended temperature operation.

June 27, 2016 - Calex Mfg. Co. announced the addition of the “-T” option on the 1000W FXW series. The “-T” option allows for extended temperature operation of the converters from -55ºC to +105ºC including cold start at -55ºC. This option makes this series ideal for military/aerospace and hi-rel applications requiring extended temperature operation.

The FXW series features a 9-36VDC input range accommodating a variety of power sources from 12V to 24V to 28V nominal. Output voltages available are 24 and 28VDC. All models are isolated input to output. The FXW offers efficiency, up to 96.5%, and density which is accomplished through the use of synchronous rectification, advanced circuit, packaging and thermal design resulting in a compact, highly reliable product.

The FXW operates at a fixed frequency and follow conservative derating guidelines.

The package size of the FXW DC/DC series is 2.5” x 4.7” x 0.52”H. All models feature ON/OFF with a low idle current of 3mA as well as Trim.

The Trim range is +/-10%. The switching frequency is 200kHz. Output voltage setpoint accuracy is +/-1.5%. Turn-on overshoot is 0.

The temperature coefficient for both series is 0.015%/ºC typical. Output noise is 1% of Vout peak to peak. All models operate down to a no load condition.

Line and load regulation is 0.15% max. Input to output isolation is 2250VDC. The MTBF for the FXW is 5.4M hours.

Both models feature thermal shutdown, over voltage, over-current and short circuit protection, all with auto-restart. All models also feature a monotonic startup into pre biased loads. All models are RoHS compliant and designed and manufactured in the USA.
