WOOD DALE, IL – AUGUST 4, 2005 - Danaher Motion announces that their Deltran PT Wrap Spring™ clutch/brakes have been redesigned as a step toward compliance with RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances). The new design eliminates hexavalent chromium from the clutch/brake plating, and will be phased in over the coming months. “The new design will have no ill effect on the high performance that users have come to expect from our Wrap Spring clutch/brakes,” says John Pieri, Product Manager. “In fact the only noticeable change is that the color of the plated parts will appear silver rather than gold,” he says.RoHS is a European Union (EU) legislative directive which will be enforced throughout the European Community beginning July 1, 2006.
Manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) outside Europe must also abide by this legislation if the equipment they produce is ultimately imported into an EU member state.
