MILWAUKEE, Nov. 30, 2006 — Rockwell Automation Inc. today announced that it was selected by DuPont as a Global Alliance Supplier of PLC discrete and process systems. This announcement endorses the longstanding alliance relationship that DuPont and Rockwell Automation have shared over the last 15 years for PLC-based control systems. It now expands the relationship to leverage Rockwell Automation’s process system capability for use in applications where the functionality of DCS and PLC technology overlaps.
Using Six Sigma, a DuPont Process Control Sourcing Strategy team evaluated potential suppliers on the basis of a five-year life cycle model which included cost, migration, support and services, technology, security, engineering tools and safety systems. “Although Rockwell Automation has been a long-term supplier to DuPont in the process control area, the team approached this evaluation process very seriously,” said Dennis Inverso, DuPont PLC Technology team leader. “Rockwell Automation’s responses exceeded our team’s expectation. It is clear that Rockwell Automation has a credible offering for the process space where DCS and PLC functionality overlap.”
