BOULDER, COLORADO (June 21, 2004) -- Changing the landscape of safety technology with its new complete-loop smart SIS solutions, Emerson Process Management has expanded its SIS sensor family by adding Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters. Along with Rosemount® 3051S SIS pressure and 3144P SIS temperature transmitters, these meters provide smart SISand integrate with Emerson’s DeltaV™ SIS system as well as SIS final control elements like FIELDVUE® digital valve controller instruments, and expert safety services.
Emerson’s smart SIS safety management solution is an extension of its PlantWeb® digital plant architecture.First in the industry to employ digital intelligence and diagnostics from sensor to logic solver to final control element, and to take an integrated complete-safety-loop approach, Emerson now also offers Coriolis meters for use in up to SIL-2 applications. While no Coriolis meter is yet SIL/SIS certified, Emerson’s Micro Motion Coriolis meters can be used in these applications by applying IEC 61511 prior-use methodology. Per Exida’s FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis) report, Micro Motion meters offer the best scores in SFF (Safe Failure Fraction) and Dangerous Undetected failure rate, averaging two times better than other Coriolis meters.
