Parcel sortation system to improve speed, accuracy and productivity of Stockholm distribution center (Aarhus, Denmark: September 07, 2006) FKI Logistex has been awarded a contract from Schenker AB, an international provider of air, sea freight, and logistics services, for a parcel sorting system at its distribution center in Stockholm, Sweden . The new project will be the first in Sweden between Schenker AB and FKI Logistex. FKI Logistex has gained an international reputation for providing state-of-the-art parcel sortation systems for clients like DHL, and has provided several systems in Sweden for Posten Sverige, the country's national postal service.
Schenker AB awarded FKI Logistex the contract to revamp the material handling system in the Stockholm distribution center following an operational review by a Schenker AB team, which found the center's existing inbound and outbound sortation systems had reached capacity and were demanding excessive labor resources. FKI Logistex will deliver a high-speed tilt-tray sorting system featuring several induction units and spiral chutes, which will improve the center's speed, accuracy, and labor productivity. The initial phase of the project, for the sorting system's first 32 spiral chutes, is scheduled for completion by February 2007. Final handover is slated for May 2007.
