IT Works simplifies and lowers cost of computer management
PHOENIX, April 8, 2004 - Honeywell Process Solutions (NYSE:HON) and System Management Technologies Inc. (SMT), today introduced IT Works®, a software tool set that will provide Honeywell customers with remote access to TPS node construction, eliminating the need for technical resources at the customer site and will also decrease the construction time by half, resulting in significant cost savings. Honeywell will use SMT's IT Works software to simplify and automate the tasks of implementing and supporting Honeywell process control systems. IT Works allows customers the ability to build and re-build TPS nodes, without manual intervention, from a remote location and perform additional administrative tasks from one central location.
"Its centralized support allows customers to remove the variance from node builds between, or even within different sites," said Bob Lahey, Director, Honeywell Services Marketing. "In addition, the stored node images provide a very effective disaster recovery solution."" SMT has worked in close collaboration with Honeywell and its customers to define and implement the most often requested features," stated Bill Lyng, President of SMT. "IT Works for Honeywell greatly simplifies the task of managing and deploying complex systems by using predictable and repeatable automation tools, offering powerful and intuitive administration tools, and by scaling to meet the challenges of any organization."
IT Works maintains the control system configuration so that customers who implement IT Works will have the ability to utilize Honeywell's deep domain expertise remotely regardless of where the plant or the domain expert is located. Additionally, IT Works supports Honeywell's overall Six Sigma initiatives by helping to regulate human activity and its associated variability.IT Works was developed by System Management Technologies (SMT), which will continue to enhance and refine the product. Honeywell and SMT have recently completed an agreement that will establish Honeywell as the primary reseller of IT Works for process control customers.
