Rapid Adoption of SmartPlant Continues in Pulp and Paper Industry
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 3, 2006 – Intergraph Corporation today announced ÅF-Process AB, one of the leading consulting and engineering companies for pulp and paper industry, has signed a five-year, multi-million-dollar Software License Agreement to standardize on Intergraph software. Under the agreement, ÅF-Process AB is migrating from existing legacy systems and standardizing on Intergraph’s integrated engineering environment, SmartPlant® Enterprise, through an engineering portal solution to be deployed across the entire ÅF Process division. SmartPlant Enterprise is Intergraph’s solution suite to help companies integrate engineering and schematics, modeling and design, materials management and project controls, and information management with its project and business processes.
ÅF Process division’s engineering portal solution, based on Intergraph’s SmartPlant Enterprise, will provide advanced functionality, usability and work process improvement, global worksharing, drawing automation and operating plant support. The deployed portal will also fully leverage Intergraph’s new generation SmartPlant 3D – allowing them to cut schedules, boost productivity and increase engineering quality across the engineering enterprise. “The pulp and paper industry is an important market for Intergraph,” said Philippe Marceau, Executive Vice President, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine.
“ÅF Process division’s signing of this contract reinforces the continued momentum in the adoption of Intergraph’s SmartPlant Enterprise for plant engineering and design in the pulp and paper industry.” “After a review of competitive products, we decided Intergraph was the natural partner for the ÅF Process division. They provided the best technical solution; they have a strong support organization, solid financial performance and are recognized as the market leader within the process industry,” said Timo Juvonen, Senior Vice President, Engineering, ÅF Process division. “ÅF Process division has been through a strong growth period with several acquisitions during the recent years.
Through these acquisitions various new companies have been included under the ÅF Process division, each having their own old legacy systems. To streamline our operations and increase productivity through our division, we established a new engineering and design strategy based on an engineering portal. The Intergraph solutions provided through this agreement will be the foundation of our new ÅF Engineering Portal solution.”
