Ipsil Announces EtherBlock Wireless Data Acquisition Solution

February 18, 2004 - Ipsil, Incorporated today announced the addition of SensorBlock™ WiFi to its EtherBlock™ family of their reliable, inexpensive data acquisition equipment. The SensorBlock WiFi delivers all the functionality of the standard SensorBlock, but uses an 802.11b interface to provide Ethernet connectivity in remote locations where wiring isn't practical. Data for eight channels of 0-5V, 4-20mA or dry contact devices can be monitored and logged at distances up to 1000 feet*. All channels can be polled up to 125 times per second.

As with all Ipsil products, the SensorBlock WiFi incorporates the FlowStack™ TCP/UPD engine with line-speed performance offering virtually unlimited simultaneous requests, and a built-in web server.Multiple methods may be used to access device data. The built-in web server can deliver dynamic web pages and other objects such as Java applets to a common desktop browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Netscape).

Ipsil’s WebLogger™ is a configurable application for monitoring and logging data (a single-seat license for WebLogger Standard come with SensorBlock products). Custom applications can be written in VisualBasic, Java, Delphi and other languages. SensorBlock also supports Modbus TCP for interaction with third party software.The SensorBlock WiFi Base Kit contains Office Access Unit and one SensorBlock WiFi Field Unit pre-configured for intercommunications and wireless security (WEP). Four channel ($999) and eight channel ($1149) versions are available.

Additional four ($749) and eight (999) channel Field Units can be ordered separately. One Office Access Unit can support can support up to 254 devices (32 Field Units). Volume pricing is available.
