The IXXAT CANlink II is an universal gateway which allows to integrate devices with a serial port quickly and easily in CAN or CANopen net-works.Two operating modes are available to the user. In CAN mode (layer 2), the CAN data are trans-mitted transparently to the RS232 interface. Data transmitted by RS232 are packed into CAN tele-grams and transmitted. One configurable identi-fier each is available for transmission and recep-tion.
Communication is supported with 11 and 29 bit identifiers (CAN 2.0A, 2.0B).In CANopen mode, the CANlink works as a CANopen node, where serial data are saved as a byte stream object in the manufacturer-specific object dictionary area and transmitted by PDO.
One server SDO, one transmit and one receive PDO and the functions Emergency Message, Heart-beat Producer and NMT-Slave are supported.The communication interfaces and the operating modes are configured with a configuration file, which is stored on the device by means of a download program. The CANlink II is equipped with a Fujitsu MB90F543 microcontroller (with on-chip CAN controller) and has an optional galvanically de-coupled high-speed CAN interface as well as an RS232 interface.
Power is supplied externally with 9-36 V DC.The CANlink II is available in two housing ver-sions, a plastic housing for top hat rail mounting or as a desktop device in a robust aluminum housing.For further information on the CANlink II, please go to www.ixxat.de
