Kyland introduces SICOM6496 Industrial Ethernet Switch
The 48G/96FE Layer 3 SICOM6496 Ethernet Switch is designed for core backbone networks in electric power substations and railway applications.

June 13, 2010 - Kyland releases 48G/96FE Layer 3 SICOM6496 Backbone Industrial Ethernet Switch. The switch is specifically designed for core backbone network in electric power substations and railway applications. The backbone Ethernet switch SICOM6496 supports layer 3 data full wire-speed forwarding and full duplex or half duplex flow control with 48 10/100/1000Base-T(X) ports or 48 Gigabit SFP TP/fiber ports including 4 Gigabit RJ45/SFP combo ports (10/100/1000Base-TX, 1000Base-X). A full range of power input are offered: 48VDC (36~75VDC), 110VAC/220VAC/220VDC (85~264VAC/200~400VDC), dual redundant power supplies (optional).

With its layer 3 management features, SICOM6496 offers several routing protocols such as RIP v1/v2, OSPF v2, BEIGRP and BGP v4 ensuring effective segmentation of the network based on IP addresses, as well as DT-Ring protocols (recovery time<50ms), STP/RSTP/MSTP, VRRP. Also, the QoS feature guarantees bandwidth availability for real time applications. QinQ is set to realize double VLAN security. Multiple management methods like CLI, TELNET, WEB, SNMP V1/V2/V3, OPC will be used under the management of Kyvision 3.0 software.

SICOM6496 supports both Port based or tagged based VLAN. By implementing VLAN, the broadcast traffic is restricted to each VLAN group. IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) "snooping" function can be supported to prevent IGMP data from being broadcasted, thereby avoiding the Bandwidth Wastage.
