FORT WORTH, TX - June 12, 2003 - When Allied Electronics, Inc. announced its new distribution agreement with Phoenix Contact, it did so with a contest asking how many Phoenix Contact UK5N DIN-rail mount style terminal blocks placed end-to-end would be required to stretch between the two companies' corporate offices.Willard Lee Graves Ph.D., PE was chosen in a random drawing of contestants who submitted the correct answer 47,182,180 and won the trip for two to the Phoenician Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ.
Dr. Graves is president of Computation Consulting Services, Inc., a computer science and engineering consulting firm in Baltimore, MD. He is also an instructor at Towson University. Dr.
Graves, who read about the contest in Allied's New Products Catalog, has relied on Allied catalogs for 51 years. "I became a catalog customer in the fifties because it was the only way to get state-of-the-art components in the rural Midwest," said Dr. Graves. He's remained a customer for all of these years because in his words, "Allied continues to supply quality components at a reasonable cost." What is his latest application of Allied parts? "I'm currently working on a power protector that protects 12 volt devices from reverse polarity, over voltage and connection transients and Allied had the parts I needed," he said.
"Allied has been taking care of customer needs for 75 years and we really appreciate this kind of life-long customer loyalty," said Allied Vice President of Product Marketing Lee Davidson. "We hope Dr. Graves enjoys his trip and wish him continued success in the future." Allied has more than 125,000 electronic and electromechanical components in stock and available for same day shipment to busy engineers like Dr. Graves.
This includes e-commerce orders placed on www.alliedelec.com as late as 10 p.m. EST.
