MIDDLEBORO, Mass. —April 19, 2005—Measurement Computing Corporation today announced the release of its new Measurement Advantage™ brand, USB-based, high-voltage, high-current, digital I/O module. The USB-PDISO8 provides eight isolated 24-volt AC/DC inputs and eight 6-amp Form C relays at 240 VAC/28VDC contact ratings, with integral screw terminals all housed in a single all-metal enclosure. At $299, the USB-PDISO8 offers all this at a price that is 37% less expensive than the equivalent PCI-based alternative (PCI-PDISO8, shielded cable, and screw terminal enclosure).
All of these advantages make the USB-PDISO8 a very attractive alternative to, or replacement for, PCI-based systems for high-voltage monitoring and control. In addition to the high-performance specifications, the USB-PDISO8 offers the following features:
- An exclusive built-in USB expansion port that allows users to daisy-chain up to five units together
- Optional power cables that allow users to daisy-chain power from one unit to another
- An enclosure with a small footprint that is ideal for bench top use or can be mounted on a DIN railThe USB-PDISO8 compliments the other Measurement Advantage high-voltage digital IO products: the USB-ERB08 and USB-ERB24, which allow users to control and monitor electromechanical relays, and the USB-SSR08 and USB-SSR24, which allow users to monitor and control industry standard solid-state relays.
- TracerDAQ, Measurement Computing’s powerful stripchart recorder, oscilloscope, and data logger application.
- SoftWIRE, the popular graphical programming interface for Visual Studio .NET.
- Universal Library, the powerful language interface that allows users to write programs in all of the popular programming languages using easy-to-understand, high-level command syntax.
- UL for LabVIEW, the package of drivers, VIs, and program examples for using MCC hardware in LabVIEW
- InstaCal, an all-in-one installation, calibration, and test application that simplifies the important initial steps involved in turning a user’s PC into a measurement system.
These five products make a strong argument for replacing PCI with USB for high-voltage applications: functional equivalence, lower cost, increased ease-of-use, and increased flexibility for re-deployment.All Measurement Advantage products ship with the following free software:
