May 22, 2007 - The SPH500 model is an all-round power supply that is extremely compact and meets a wide range of varying demands. Designed for 90-264 Vdc mains, it offers 24V/20A and 48V/10A outputs which can be adjusted between 23-29V and 44-54V. Apart from determining the nominal current, users can also select from four different types of output to suit their own individual applications, namely parallel mode, boost mode, fuse mode or continuous mode. Each mode is µC-controlled and µC-monitored and can be set using a front-panel DIP switch.500W DIN rail appliances offering 24V/20A and 48V/10A are among the most widely-marketed power supplies in the industry.
They therefore meet with many diverse areas of application, often resulting in extremely varying demands on their operating qualities. For many users, the stability of the 24V or 48V has priority, while features such as hold-up time and remote operation are also important. However, for users in the motive-power engineering sector, the voltage quality is less relevant than the power supply´s high current reserves for short phases. This, on the other hand, is not favourable for recharging applications. The following output options are offered: Parallel mode 100% current limit over the entire range.
Boost mode Approx. 150% current limit for approx. 500 ms, followed by an approx. 1 s pause. After boosting, the current limit is reset at 100-120%, depending on the temperature.
Fuse mode Fuse mode offers an output limit which allows up to 250% of the nominal current to be used for max. 5 s. The device then switches off and must be manually reset. This is for instance advantageous in the case of machinery which should not be restarted in the event of a short circuit or defect. Continuous mode Continuous mode offers an output limit which allows up to 250% of the nominal current to be used.
This mode is available until the thermal cut-off reacts in the power supply.With its programmable output and its 62-mm-slim design, this power supply is an absolute highlight among the many 500 watt DIN rail power supplies on the market. From the third quarter of 2007, MGV´s Super Slim range will also include the SPH503, a three-phase version of this power supply offering 3x340-550 Vac.
