Reading directly marked 1D and 2D symbols made easy
July, 2004 - Renton, Wash.: In response to demand from suppliers and integrators, Microscan has published a handbook for direct part marking applications, Guidelines for Direct Part Mark Identification. The handbook provides the DOD, aerospace and automotive supplier who must track directly marked parts with factual application advice they can apply directly to their direct part marking application. In addition to covering verification standards and quality parameters, the booklet also covers topics such as what determines symbol readability and how does it affect the grading process, how to select a marking method and the optimal location for the mark. “Direct part marking identification applications do not need to be difficult,” commented Matt Allen, product manager for Microscan.

General education on the parameters that determine a good symbol will solve most application challenges before they occur.
