UL/CSA AWM approved, LSZH wire and cable offers cold temperature resistance and has superior bend, variable, torsional and rolling flexibility across the temperature range of -50°C to 80°C.

August 15, 2012 – Northwire announced LSZH wire and cable with low smoke zero halogen for both insulation and jacket.

UL/CSA AWM approved, LSZH technical wire and cable offers cold temperature resistance and has superior bend, variable, torsional and rolling flexibility across the temperature range of -50°C to 80°C. Custom cable designs available, over-mold and assembly compatible and can be coiled for retractile cord applications.

Resistant to kinks, cuts and abrasions, LSZH features a smaller diameter and is ideally suited for applications with limited installation space and in close confinement areas where public health and safety are paramount, including rolling stock, aerospace, marine shipboard cable, and other applications where it’s critical to protect people and equipment from toxic and corrosive gas.

“For years, many manufacturers have been touting the attributes of their Low Smoke Halogen free cable products. But they haven’t told the marketplace that while their jacket is LSZH, the insulation, on the other hand, is olefin based and does not meet the comprehensive safety requirements,” explains Kevin DePratter, director of research and development. “Northwire’s pleased to offer our valued customers a comprehensive flame retardant Halogen free cable solution with the increased safety advantages of both LSZH insulation and jacket, combined with precisely controlled electricals,” says DePratter.

The Northwire cable engineering company offers same day custom cable and wire products for any volume, quotes in 24 hours or less, rapid solutions for connectors, assemblies, cable prototyping and contract manufacturing available upon request. Northwire is ISO 13485:2003- and ISO 9001:2008-certified and is engaged in professional company-wide certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, Project Management, and American Society for Quality. The company’s quality control laboratory is a self-qualified CSA testing facility under ISO 17025. This laboratory subjects the company’s cable and wire products to tests that surpass real-world conditions, including the extremes of bending, flexing, flame, impact, crush, oil, and temperature resistance. ITAR registered, Northwire’s CAGE Code is 7V821.

Northwire also maintains various UL, CSA, NFPA, ANSI, ABS, IEEE, and MSHA approvals and works closely with strategic supply chain partners to offer FDA-approved and RoHS2- and REACH-compliant and food grade materials.
