MILWAUKEE, August 1, 2005 — Packaging and converting OEM Gevas Technologies recently added Kinetix Integrated Motion from Rockwell Automation to its StarFill Ultra Eco packaging machine. The resulting new capabilities provide customers with a fast, reliable system that can quickly adapt to frequent line changes and scale up or down to satisfy continually changing design and packaging requirements.Designed for packaging diapers and feminine care products, the StarFill Ultra Eco has an “open” frame structure and includes features for bag sealing, bag opening, stacking and product transport.
The integrated control platform from Rockwell Automation, built on its Logix control architecture, features an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix controller and Kinetix 6000 multi-axis servo drive and MP-Series motors. “Packaging OEMs are under pressure to create flexible machines in very compressed schedules, which requires reuse of designs and engineering resources,” said Mr. Thomas Sander, managing director of Gevas Technologies. “The addition of Kinetix Integrated Motion to our StarFill Ultra Eco machine significantly minimizes design and installation efforts, while providing our customers with higher system performance, easier maintenance and lower overall costs.”
When the machine is in automatic mode, the integrated control platform enables precise execution of the PCAM profile performed by each axis. This helps boost machine throughput and improves packaging quality.
