November 15, 2016 - Siemens is complementing its industrial operator control and monitoring devices with Simatic Flat Panel monitors and Simatic Panel PCs in multi-touch, 16:9 widescreen format. The new versions are the Simatic Panel PC IPC277E with 15 and 19 inch displays, and the Simatic Panel PC IPC477E and Simatic Flat Panel IFP monitors with 15, 19 and 22 inch displays.

The slimline design Human Machine Interface (HMI) devices, with a full glass front, are used on series and special machine, as well as in plant engineering for modern operating concepts. These are increasingly based on single and multi-finger, gesture or two-hands operation on multi-touch and widescreen devices. The Simatic monitors and Panel PCs are equipped with projected capacitive touch technology, and are specifically designed for industrial applications. They support practical functions, for example the Favorites selection for fast navigation, zooming in a plant image, measured value control, and scrolling through lists of alarms and messages. They also automatically detect operating errors, such as inadvertent heel-of-hand contact, drops of water on or cleaning of the display.
