Siemens believes that a high performance process automation system includes three crucial elements. First, the system needs to provide tight integration of all devices that comprise the systems, such as drives and MCCs, not just field instrumentation. Second, the system should have safety life cycle management tools built into its system to assist companies in meeting industrial safety standards, such as ANS/ISA S84-2004.
