Burgaw, NC and Hayden, ID - Wieland Electric, an international manufacturer of interconnect products for both electronic and industrial applications, and Transtector Systems, a leader in quality surge protection devices, have collaborated to develop a technologically advanced AC/DC din rail mounted silicon surge suppressor. The Wiepro Series is designed for low frequency critical industrial applications such as PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and RTUs (remote terminal units). The applications are AC/DC power circuits, 4-20mA current loops and low frequency data circuits for 2 pair, 4 wire protection.

The Wiepro Series provides an excellent protection solution for all microprocessor based I/O (input/output) circuits. The Wiepro Series is available in 4 different models with service voltages of 7V, 12V, 24V or 48V and maximum continuous operating voltages of 13VDC, 16VDC, 32VDC or 64VDC, respectively. The surge suppressor uses a non-degrading silicon avalanche suppressor diode (SASD) technology in a modular design for quick removal from a separate mounting base. It snaps onto a standard din rail and the screw terminals accept 28-12 AWG.

The Wiepro Series is a small unit measuring 4 inches in height, 4 inches in length and only uses 0.5 inches of din rail space. The state of the art silicon suppression technology utilized by the Wiepro Series allows for an extremely quick in-circuit response time of less than 5 nanoseconds against damaging electrical transients. In addition, the Wiepro Series products have extremely low clamping voltages and are performance tested to both the 8/20 and 10/1000 microsecond waveforms. The units are available for purchase from Wieland.
