With the release of R3.04 of CENTUM CS 3000 R3 Integrated Production Control System comes the introduction of a compact and highly reliable Fieldnetwork Controller (FFCS). The target of this new enhancement of Yokogawa’s flagship control platform is to accommodate a wider range of applications and to strengthen CENTUM CS 3000 R3 competitiveness in small-scale systems. The FFCS marks the continuing commitment toward achievement of "scalable system" (expansibility/progressivity of the distributed control system) with flexibility to meet various plant sizes.Though the CENTUM CS 3000 R3 had best been known for applicability to medium to large-scale plants, the addition of the FFCS controller provides a highly competitive offering for small-to-medium-scale plants.
Just 20% of the size of its standard controller, it provides for the same high performance and high reliability equivalent to the existing controllers designed for large-scale plants.Designed for Class 1 Div II area and with a capacity for handling up to 30 I/O modules of various types including analog, digital, and communication, such as Foundation Fieldbus, HART, Profibus, and DeviceNet, the CENTUM CS 3000 R3 lays claim for utmost scalability for control of most all process facilities.The FOUNDATION Fieldbus capability is also improved, providing smaller systems with the same functions such as integrated operation and monitoring environments and full-redundant systems that are found in large systems.
Incorporating the same 4 segment redundant H1 interface communication card with the FFCS, CENTUM CS 3000 R3 also serves as a good entry-level system for Foundation Fieldbus applicationsIn addition, the FFCS provides an even more inexpensive and easy migration path for Yokogawa’s legacy uXL and CENTUM-XL systems.
