Tokyo, Japan - Yokogawa announces the release of its new Exaopc R3.01.50 version of its OPC Interface. The OPC interface provided by Yokogawa Electric Corporation allows users to access data on a human interface station (HIS) or field control station (FCS) via Exaopc OPC servers. This access is possible from an OPC-compatible application running on a Windows machine.
The OPC interface is a standard interface for process control using object linking and embedding (OLE). It consists of servers that supply HIS or FCS data along with generic interfaces that are used to access those servers. OPC applies OLE, which is a standard means of inter-application communication in the Windows environments, to process control so that process data can be exchanged between general-purpose Windows applications.
This Exaopc OPC Interface Package consists of generic OPC servers along with cassettes that perform the processing that is dependent on the connected process control system (PCS).Already functional with server functions for DA (Data Access – Read/write current values of process data using item IDs as data identifiers), AE, (Alarm/event - Reports alarms and events occurring asynchronously from process fields), and HDA (Historical Data Access - Reads time-sequential process data using item IDs as data identifiers), R3.01.50 includes several new functions including:(1) Support for both Windows XP and Windows 2000 The new release provides Exaopc server functionality on either Windows Operating system on a general purpose PC.(2) Exaopc for Batch Systems (Exaopc/Batch)The following Batch servers, compliant with Batch specifications stipulated by OPC Foundation, have been added:-OPC Batch Custom Interface Version 1.0-OPC Batch Automation Interface Version 1.0The Batch Server acquires and sets batch data in, and transfers data between connected CS Batch 3000 and CS Batch 1000 systems.
This includes master and control recipes including equipment assigned, procedure and formula data. The custom Interface allows communication between OPC Batch Clients, such as Yokogawa’s newly released Exaquantum/Batch.Exaopc/Batch adds a fourth server functionality to the existing DA, A&E and HDA server functions.(3) OPC Server Redundancy Function (Exaopc-RD)Exaopc-RD OPC server redundancy function is an Exaopc expanded function that supports the duplicated structure of OPC servers. This function monitors two OPC servers and, if a failure occurs in one OPC server, automatically selects the standby OPC server so as to link it with an OPC client.
Exaopc-RD not only supports DA server redundancy, but also A&E, and HDA server redundancy.(4) Enhancements in the Functions Already SupportedThe new Exaopc OPC server also supports many optional functions supported since the first release of Exaopc:• BrowseThe browse function allows the OPC client to view the contents of the OPC server.• SecurityThis interface controls user access according to a user name and password of private definition (defined by a user) when a user accesses to Exaopc or PCS from an OPC client. The OPC Security interface is available in the DA server, A&E server and Batch server function.• Automatic Backup functionThis function automatically and regularly backs up the process data fetched by the DA or A&E servers.
A catch-up function then is able to provide the data to the client once the client comes back on-line.
