OULU, Finland, Sept. 30, 2025 – Specim, a Konica Minolta company and global leader in hyperspectral imaging, announces the launch of the Specim SX25, a SWIR hyperspectral camera with world-leading resolution for highly accurate chemical analysis and identification of materials.
Applications for SWIR hyperspectral imaging span coating layer inspection, mineral and ore classification, food quality inspection, agricultural and pharmaceutical research, and cultural heritage conservation. The Specim SX25 camera's combination of spatial accuracy, spectral detail and high optical performance meets the demands of the most rigorous users.
Operating within the 960–2500 nm range, the SX25 offers 640 spatial pixels and up to 392 selectable spectral bands, achieving an 8 nm spectral resolution. Its 1500:1 signal-to-noise ratio ensures the accurate differentiation of closely spaced spectral features.
"The Specim SX25 sets a new standard in SWIR hyperspectral imaging, combining superior performance with seamless system integration. Its unique unified spectral calibration ensures consistent results across multiple systems—making it the top choice for applications where precision, repeatability and efficiency are essential," said Sami Toljamo, chief commercial officer at Specim.
The Specim SX25's flexible design includes multiple lens options and an adjustable working distance, allowing users to tailor the field of view and resolution for applications ranging from wide-area scanning to detailed macro analysis.
The camera features built-in Advanced Image Enhancement (AIE), delivering ready-to-use data directly from the device and reducing post-processing time. Unified spectral calibration ensures consistent and repeatable results across multiple systems, providing a significant advantage in multi-system setups and large-scale operations where comparability is critical. Equipped with a GigE Vision interface, the SX25 is easy to integrate with both lab setups and machine vision systems.
"The Specim SX25 expands our SWIR portfolio. While the Specim SWIR 3.3 remains a robust and trusted choice for applications requiring speed, the SX25 delivers a leap forward in precision and detail. Together, they give our customers the flexibility to select the right tool for their specific needs," said Jere Hartikainen, chief technology officer at Specim.
