Calex adds high temperature option to dc/dc converters
T option on 500W MXW and 360W MTW allows for extended temperature operation of the converters from -55C to +105C including cold start at -55ºC.

June 5, 2015 - Calex announces the T option on 500W MXW and 360W MTW series that allows for extended temperature operation of the converters from -55ºC to +105ºC including cold start at -55ºC. This option makes both series ideal for military/aerospace and hi-rel applications requiring extended temperature operation.

The MXW and MTW feature an ultra-wide 9-36VDC input range accommodating a variety of power sources from 12V to 24V to 28V nominal. Output voltages available for both series are 12, 15, 24 and 28VDC. All models are isolated input to output. Each series offers high efficiency, up to 95.7%, and high power density which is accomplished through the use of synchronous rectification, advanced circuit, packaging and thermal design resulting in a compact, highly reliable product.

Both series operate at a fixed frequency and follow conservative derating guidelines.

The package size of the MXW and MTW DC/DC series is 2.4” x 2.5” x 0.52”H. All models feature ON/OFF with a low idle current of 2mA as well as Trim.

The Trim range is +/-10%. The switching frequency of both DC/DC series is 200kHz. Output voltage setpoint accuracy is +/-1.5%. Turn-on overshoot is 0.

The temperature coefficient for both series is 0.015%/ºC typical. Output noise is 1% of Vout peak to peak. All models operate down to a no load condition.

Line and load regulation is 0.15% max. Input to output isolation for both series is 2250VDC. The MTBF for both the MXW and MTW is 5.4M hours.

All models feature thermal shutdown, over voltage, over-current and short circuit protection, all with auto-restart.
