January 19, 2009 - Calex announces the 24S24.8TH DC/DC converter which offers an industry first 4:1 input range of 9 to 36 Volts DC in a 200 Watt industry standard half brick package. The 9 to 36 Volt input range accommodates 12 Volt battery, 24 Volt industrial and 28 Volt COTS military applications. The output voltage of the TH is 24 Volts at up to 8.33 Amps.
Additional output voltages are available upon request. The TH is housed in a cast case and potted with a thermally conductive potting compound providing an innovative ruggedized solution at competitive commercial pricing. In addition to the 4:1 input range, the TH offers pulse by pulse current limiting, over-temperature protection, and auto softstart. The output voltage of the TH also has a very wide trim range, from -35 to +10% of the nominal 24 Volt output voltage. The TH also provides remote sense for voltage regulation directly at the load.
The TH has zero turn-on overshoot and a temperature coefficient of only 0.005%/C. The TH, unlike many half brick solutions on the market, will fully regulate the output down to a no load condition.
Load Regulation and Line Regulation is 0.02 and 0.01% respectively. Load Transient Overshoot is 4% and Load Transient Recovery time is 200us. The TH includes remote ON/OFF which is particularly useful for battery applications.
The idle current in the OFF state is only 12mA. The case temperature operating range for the TH is -40 to +100C. The storage temperature is -40 to +120C. The case thermal shutdown temperature is 105C. The cast case is designed with threaded through holes to allow easy mounting or the addition of a heatsink for extended temperature operation.
The MTBF of the TH is over 1M hours. The unit is designed to meet UL/cUL 60950 and IEC/EN 60950-1. The TH is available with RoHS and non-RoHS construction, depending on the application requirements. The TH is priced at $115.50 (1000).
