March 22, 2016 - Calex introduces 360 Watt TCM chassis mount DC/DC converters with a wide 4:1 input range of 9 to 36VDC, making the TCM ideal for 12V battery, 24V process control and 28V military COTS applications.
The chassis mount case is designed for backplane or enclosure mounting with or without DIN rails. Through holes are provided in the case for backplane mounting and a DIN adapter is available for DIN rail mounting.
The TCM has a compact encapsulated 3.20” x 4.53” x 1.00”H enclosure with efficiencies just over 96%. Threaded through holes are provided to allow the installation of a heatsink for extended temperature operation.
The TCM is fully isolated input to output. The isolation voltage is 2250VDC. The output voltages available are 12, 24 and 28VDC. The TCM is designed with the internal capacitance required to support one foot of connection wire on the input and output. For applications with greater wire length, the factory can assist with a solution.
With battery conservation in mind, the TCM offers an ON/OFF function which reduces the input current to 2 mA while the converter is in the OFF state. The switching frequency of the TCM is 200 kHz. The case operating temperature range of the TCM is -40 to 85C. The storage temperature is -55 to 125C. The thermal impedance of the TCM without a heatsink is only 3 degrees per watt dissipated.
The TCM is protected through over current and short circuit protection, over temperature protection with auto restart and fully encapsulated for environmental protection against dust, moisture and shock/vibration. The MTBF of the TCM is 5.4M hours.
