November 24, 2008 – Laser Design announced that the Rapidform liveScan plug-in is now available for Laser Design’s line of Faro portable 3D laser scanners. For customers and customers-to-be who have a portable Laser Design scanner with Rapidform software, the plug-in allows them to scan directly into the Rapidform software package providing enhanced graphical feedback of the scanning process as data is collected. When using the Rapidform plug-in while gathering scan data from the Faro arm, the user literally sees the point cloud being captured from the part in real-time as the scanning process proceeds. The screen updates to the user’s viewing angle as the arm is moved around the part.
This feedback allows the user to adjust the scanning speed and approach as well as showing areas where the user needs to go back and gather more data which greatly improves the efficiency of the scanning process.
