Bourns announces 2054 GDT surge protectors

13 July, 2009
2054 Series devices help prevent damage from transient disturbances by creating a short-to-ground circuit during conduction.

July 13, 2009 — Bourns announced a series of three-electrode surface mount Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) surge protection devices ideal for broadband applications due to their ultra-low capacitance and low insertion and return loss performance. Designated the 2054 Series, the robust devices are available in voltages from 230 to 470V and also feature RoHS compliant versions. The 2054 Series feature a compact size (5 x 7.2 mm) and offer superior protection characteristics suitable for a broad range of applications including telecommunications, commercial and industrial applications. GTDs help prevent damage from transient disturbances by creating a short-to-ground circuit during conduction.

When an electrical surge exceeds the defined breakdown voltage level of the GDT, the device becomes ionized and rapid conduction takes place. When the surge passes and the system voltage returns to normal levels, the GDT returns to its high-impedance “off” state.

Pricing and Availability

2054 Series is priced from $0.30-$0.40 in 2,700-piece quantities and is available now.
