These high temperature sensors operate at up to 250° C (482° F). These devices feature a separate sensing head assembly and electronic amplifier assembly to facilitate quick, cost-effective installation and maintenance.

The MA2 miniature absolute magnetic shaft encoder provides 1024 unique positions per 360° of shaft rotation. The miniature encoder is less than 5/8 in. in diameter and just over one inch in length, including the shaft and bushing. Its magnetic single chip sensing technology makes it ideal for applications in harsh environments.

The PCM-3240 stepping/pulse-type servo motor control card starts at $845. The card's intelligent NOVA MCX341-motion ASIC provides a variety of motion control functions, such as 2/3-axis linear interpolation, 2-axis circular interpolation, and T/S-curve acceleration/deceleration rate. The PCM-3240 performs these functions without requiring any main CPU processing. The PCM-3240 fits onto a standard PC/104 board.

The USB-6221 and USB-6229 DAQ devices provide up to 32 analog inputs with a 250 kS/s single-channel sampling rate. Both have signal streaming technology, which uses the bandwidth and performance of Hi-Speed USB technology to allow bidirectional high-speed transfer of data between the USB device and a computer.

The Allen Bradley 1799 Embedded I/O product line for conveyor applications now includes the On Machine solution, which combines I/O circuits, a power supply and network adapters into a single IP00 module that provides local control of outputs using DeviceLogix technology. The built-in DeviceNet communications links the machine to the controller for increased speed and efficiency.

BKS Wire Draw Encoders provide high resolution (to 0.05 mm) position or distance information for linear measurement paths up to 5 m at speeds up to 3.5 m/sec, even under difficult mounting positions. The fiber interface extends the maximum distance between a PowerDNA I/O Cube and its host computer from the 100 meter Ethernet/100BASE-T limitation to 2 kilometers. The 2 km limitation reflects the use of standard, off-the-shelf multimode fiber.

TS400 and TS500 platinum resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) are suitable for nearly all factory and process automation applications. The sensors may be mounted directly or remotely, and sense a temperature range of -50 to 932 F.

The PCI-1739U 48-channel digital I/O universal PCI card for both 3.3 V and 5 V PCI bus signaling starts at $195. It uses Opto-22 compatible 50-pin connectors for interfacing to many signal conditioning and termination options.

The JRBS line of spur blocks for FOUNDATION fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA provides the convenience of DIN-rail mounting in a rugged IP 20 design. DiProPAC 32 die protection module for the SmartPAC 2 press automation control provides inputs for up to thirty-two sensors. An 8-sensor module is also available. It generates a detailed message whenever a sensor fault occurs, providing the name of the sensor, the sensor type, the nature of the fault (early, late, missed, etc.), and the angle at which the fault occurred.

SeaDAC PLC-16H digital I/O module combines high-current Form C outputs and optically isolated inputs. It has eight SPDT high-current Form C relays that can directly switch up to 6A loads at 250VAC and 100VDC. Additionally, eight non-polarized inputs can monitor 5-30VDC and provide optical isolation to protect the host computer and other sensitive equipment from voltage transients.

The mini-IPm PLUS has Ethernet, up to 4 serial ports and a built-in mix of 26 discrete and analog I/O. It is pre-loaded with open-source Linux and the IPm firmware which offers automation, control and data acquisition capabilities. For utility applications, IPm+ also includes pre-loaded software for AGA gas flow calculations and DNP-3 time stamped communications.

Q45S provides continuous monitoring of H2S (hydrogen sulphide) in wet conditions. A flexible monitoring capability allows measurements to be made either at the inlet to scrubber systems, where concentrations can run as high as 200 PPM, or at the outlet, where concentrations are ideally below 0.5 PPM. Special sensor configurations are also available for either duct insertion or flowcell use.

System 7000 acquires, reduces, and presents data from strain gages and related sensors for stress analysis testing. Users can intermix strain gages, strain-gage-based transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors including those with high-level voltage outputs in groups of eight by choosing the appropriate sensor card for up to 128 channels in a 4U-height, 19-inch, rack-mountable scanner.

These miniature, lightweight sensors consist of foil strain gages adhesively bonded to flat substrates made of metal, polymer, or composites. Hybrid sensors can be attached via mounting holes with screws, via spot welding, or via clamping. This eliminates the need for adhesive bonding by end users. The hybrid sensors are also available with pre-attached lead wires and connectors to eliminate soldering.

The XMT series of mini photoelectric sensors are available in eleven different models including diffuse reflective, focalized, polarized retro reflective, retro reflective for transparent and through beam. The sensing distance range is from 0.2 cm up to 6 meters depending on the model selected.

UEI added complete QNX Real Time Operating System (RTOS) support for its PowerDNA series of data acquisition and control cubes. With the new PowerDNA QNX library, QNX developers can take advantage of the deterministic timing afforded by QNX. The Library may be deployed on any host computer running the QNX RTOS and connected to the PowerDNA cube over the Ethernet (10/100baseT).
